Coaches Corner~Authenticity

If you have not made peace with the fact, that as an Extraordinary Coach what you are truly looking to do, is to get into the minds of your prospects, then your coaching career maybe short lived. Understand that at the end of the day if you don't desire actually to impact other people's minds, then you may not be ready for the coaching arena. This was not made any clearer to me than it was recently made by a man who is revered to becoming a big part of my life, and his name is Steve Napolitan. I was talking with Steve about the recent workshop that I had put on, and was getting Steve's input on ways that I could have marketed it better so that I could have had a bigger turnout. The workshop was designed to help men with their mental flexibility. The workshop understood that as men we sometimes are in bondage to the way that we think and it often doesn't serve us.

I think every man alive knows deep in their heart that they need to change the way that they think of things, the way that they manage their lives because of the results that they are getting or not getting. I can also point out that few men will admit this in public. When you are marketing your services as an Extraordinary Coach, you must market as far as what people don't mind admitting that they need help with, if they admit that they need help with anything at all. While you want to impact the mind of your prospects, that's really not what you want to say in your marketing efforts. Your marketing efforts must speak to those things that people don't mind you knowing about, and how does one do that is beyond me.

Steve Napolitan gives me a great idea. As an Extraordinary Coach and this is an analogy, you know that they need blue. You know they need blue because you've been where they are. They're asking you for red. If you want their business, you're either going to have to give them red, or give them the impression that they're getting red. What Steve Napolitan advised is that if they want red, give them red, give them red to gain their confidence that you can meet their needs. Once you have met their needs and given them red and they find out that red doesn't work, then you offer them blue, and maybe blue will be better and if they don't like blue, red and blue together makes purple and that's awesome. That's almost a direct quote from Steve Napolitan.

Attending Steve's workshop this past weekend is really opening my eyes to how marketing really really works. People talk about authenticity and truth in advertising and all that, but truth in advertising and authenticity have no place in business. If you would have simply told your customers that you paid X and you're going to upsell them and they're going to pay Y, well I think you'd have very few customers. Somehow, you must find a way to craft your message so that you get their attention. One other thing he mentioned was how free tools given away to people make the people really thankful, and chances are they're going to tell someone about what they got from you and how wonderfully well it helped them. That gets other people in the conversation because typically human beings like to get free things. We all like free stuff, and some of us, as Extraordinary Coaches we understand that when you give free stuff, you're planting a seed, and when you get free stuff you're eating a fruit.

We, the Extraordinary Coaches are not that interested in getting free stuff, but we want to give free stuff because we want the attention of the people that resonate with us, and we want the attention of the people that resonate with us so that we can impact their minds. I personally believe that the more people that think as I do, the easier it is to me to continue thinking as a I do, and the same maybe true of you. My goal on life is not to expect to be right in my thinking, but my goal is to influence others to think the same way. We started this blog talking about how people really and truly won't say what they want because they feel insecure by saying what they want. As Extraordinary Coaches we've got to find a way to impact those people. The ways to impact those people have been talked about in this blog, and there are other ways to impact people but keep in mind, we want to offer people what they say they want, we want to give them what they say they want but giving them what they say they want, the only purpose it serves for us is we get on their radar. Once we get on their radar we can truly begin to impact their mindset because that's what we really want to do.

We think the outside objective opinion, the new results where there were no results, and the accountability coach, we believe that those three things are crucial to any person's success. The last thing that we want to do though, is to tell people that they need these things. Let's upgrade our marketing, let's transfer or rather, let's take our marketing to another level. Let's pay a lot of attention to mankind. People that preach authenticity, and telling the truth and carry those torches, they may just not be sophisticated enough to understand where you are coming from. They may just not know men as well as you know men. You know what you can do, and you know that it helps others, so you find a way to get their attention. The end will justify the means. As always if this blog has helped you I want you to share with someone. Until next time, have a good time.
